A brand new, whitewashed gallery has opened its doors in the picturesque area of Chrysaliniotisssa in Nicosia. The building, with three floors, was used to store grain in the past but now exemplifies modernist Cypriot architecture and promises to be a new focal point of cultural life in the capital!
The gallery has opened with a large scale exhibition showing the works of Christoforos Savva; one of the most groundbreaking Cypriot artists of the 20th century (1924–1968). The exhibition is named ‘Untimely on Time’ and is being held on the occasion of a double fifty-year anniversary associated with the participation of Christoforos Savva in the first official entry of the Republic of Cyprus in the Venice Biennale in 1968, as well as the subsequent death of the artist in the same year. This exhibition will take place until 31st March 2019.
