Next up for our 8509 review is the Latchi Watersports Centre.
We are often asked by our guests for recommendations on day trips, and after 12 years living in Cyprus I can confidently say that hiring a boat from Latchi Watersports Centre in Latchi and anchoring at the breathtaking Blue Lagoon is a day out that is very hard to beat.
A group of our friends recently hired a few boats from Tom and his team at Latchi Watersports and did just that, and what a day we all had! From the moment we contacted Tom we received a really professional, friendly service – despite our numbers and requirements changing a couple of times…it was a doddle for us to arrange!
Around 30 of us piled into the Latchi Watersports Centre at the harbour front in Latchi at the same time (they are the only watersports centre in Latchi with a physical building front)…we were greeted by the friendly staff there who are all really laid back, yet professional. Although there were so many of us there was no stress at all and before we knew it we had all been fitted with life jackets, the ‘captains’ of each boat had had their insurance arranged and the ‘captains’ had all been given an informative safety briefing (with map).
The boats themselves were pristine – we hired the luxury 6 and 8 seaters which are complete with music speakers (which you can plug in your iPhone into), toilets, showers, snorkels, adjustable sunbathing deck and table. It’s obvious that the boats are well maintained, which is so reassuring safety-wise.
4 hours passed in a flash. The drive from the harbour round the Akamas coast to the Blue Lagoon is stunning, and you can even catch a glimpse of Cyprus’ most acclaimed Hotel ‘The Anassa’ (where the Beckhams have stayed before) where Latchi Watersports Centre also operate. Firstly we anchored up at the Blue Lagoon – with crystal clear waters and the breathtaking Akamas peninsula as a backdrop, it is just heavenly. Adults and kids alike jumped in the
sea, swam (some of us just bobbed!) and the more adventurous, snorkelled. We then made use of the ringos that we had hired – what a blast! It was hilarious being able to hear the laughter that this created from all our friends’ boats around about us. We then spent our last couple of hours in another of the bays, known as the amphitheatre bay due to its resemblance of a Roman amphitheatre following
stone mining that took place there in the past – another beautiful setting to finish off a wonderful day, which was made even better by the first class service from Tom and his team from start to finish. The kiddies are even given a cool certificate at the end of the day too!
Latchi Watersports Centre don’t just offer boat hire though – they also offer yacht charters, watersports, diving, powerboat instruction and more.
